Pudding Lane Productions, a team of students from De Montfort University in Leicester, has won the prestigious Off the Map competition which turns historic maps from the British Library into realistic and detailed CRYENGINE scenery.
Supported by The British Library, GameCity, and our state-of-the-art CRYENGINE technology, participating teams and universities were allowed to choose three different maps as their inspiration: The Pyramids of Giza, Wiltshire’s Stonehenge, or London around the time of the Great Fire in 1666. Pudding Lane Productions chose the London map and were highly involved and concerned with achieving historic accuracy, something already showing in their first progress update. The team impressed the judges with its realism and attention to detail, showing the tightly packed streets and lanes of the capital city.
