Gamescom, the world’s largest trade fair for videogames and interactive entertainment in Cologne, is in full swing and of course Crytek is represented across the convention area. Both the upcoming free-to-play FPS Warface and Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome have popular booths on the show floor.
The main feature at the Ryse booth is the newly announced Gladiator mode, the cooperative multiplayer experience, which includes customizable characters, dynamic scenery and unpredictable environment challenges, and custom challenges and arenas with which players can create their own gaming experience. Microsoft Studios and Crytek also offer an in-depth look at never-before-seen features and refinements to the game’s combat system. Anna Kyraizi, a Gamescom attendee and big Xbox fan, is excited to see more of the game. “I’ve just played Ryse for the first time and I actually really enjoyed it,” she smiles. “I am very much looking forward to the Xbox One and have been keeping up with the launch titles; Ryse was one of my favorites from the beginning. I’m quite surprised with how smooth the gameplay feels, and with how easy it is for me to pick up.” Her friend Ghea Wetzer agrees, adding: “I must admit I wasn’t aware of Ryse before coming here, but now that I’ve played it I’m very impressed with the game. It seems very original and I like the historical settings.”
The big news for free-to-play shooter Warface is the reigniting of the final Closed Beta. This latest phase means that the game is accessible again to registered members of GFACE and will focus on North America, Europe, and Turkey territories. The famous Warface-Chinook touched down in Hall 7.1 once more, featuring separate Co-op and Versus play sessions. The booth was manned by specially trained Warface staff and the game itself has been nominated for Best Online Multiplayer Game and Best PC Game in this year’s official Gamescom awards. Dennis Schwarz, an avid FPS-player who tested both game modes after patiently waiting in line for 45 minutes, says: “Warface is awesome! It takes some of the greater qualities from other shooters and combines it with original settings and Crytek-worthy graphics, of course. I played Versus as a Medic and Co-op as an Engineer, and I enjoyed both roles very much.”
Warface provides high-quality gameplay and a constantly updated online universe with new challenges and consumables. To sign up for Closed Beta and get hands-on with the game itself, visit www.warface.com and follow the Sign Up link.
