Star Citizen backers have a need for speed! Sales of the Origin M50 and 350R have pushed us over the $28 million mark! At $28 million, you unlocked an entirely new starter ship, which we believe is going to significantly improve the Star Citizen experience:

  • New Starter Ship – The team at Consolidated Outland has decided to take Roberts Space Industries head on in 2944 by premiering the Mustang personal spacecraft. We will use these additional resources to create another ship company and starter ship for Star Citizen. The new ship will be offered for sale alongside the Aurora, so players have a choice between two options to begin the game!

We’re excited to get to work on the Mustang. As the next step in the process, the design team will turn the broad concept into a detailed set of specifications. Then those will go to one of our world-class concept artists for the first visuals. We’ll share that process with you as it happens!

Star Citizen has hit $26 million in crowd funding

It looks like the Hornet launch couldn’t end without one final stretch goal unlocked! Our backers have hit the incredible $26 million mark, which enables us to expand the capital ship mechanics in Star Citizen.

- Enhanced Capital Ship Systems – In addition to the command and control systems we’ve already outlined, we’re going to expand capital ship functions! Lead a damage control team to fight fires and repair key systems during battle, control internal bulkheads to slow boarders and man a number of consoles, like navigation and engineering, that will make commanding a capital ship feel even more immersive.

DMU wins Off the Map competition

Pudding Lane Productions, a team of students from De Montfort University in Leicester, has won the prestigious Off the Map competition which turns historic maps from the British Library into realistic and detailed CRYENGINE scenery.

Supported by The British Library, GameCity, and our state-of-the-art CRYENGINE technology, participating teams and universities were allowed to choose three different maps as their inspiration: The Pyramids of Giza, Wiltshire’s Stonehenge, or London around the time of the Great Fire in 1666. Pudding Lane Productions chose the London map and were highly involved and concerned with achieving historic accuracy, something already showing in their first progress update. The team impressed the judges with its realism and attention to detail, showing the tightly packed streets and lanes of the capital city.

Hit the slopes with Poppermost Productions’ SNOW

Skiing and snowboarding down a mountain is one of the most exciting and adrenaline-evoking activities on the planet – albeit not one that is frequently associated with gaming – and unfortunately for the true fanatics it is not always an all-year possibility. But SNOW provides continuous winter-fun with competitive and explorative gameplay, even for the ones who have never set a ski on a slope before!

SNOW is the first open world, free-to-play skiing and snowboarding game, which aims to recreate a realistic experience representative of the sport by using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CRYENGINE. It is created by Poppermost Productions, a small developer based in Stockholm, Sweden. It consists of CEO and Game Director Alexander Bergendahl, Tech Director and Programmer Filip Lundgren, and Art Director Markus Palviainen. SNOW is currently in the early stages of development and is planned to be released on Steam Early Access later this year.
