The Intel / Crysis Mapping Contest now fully started with its first round of the Singleplayer and Multiplayer Alpha Screenshot submissions. Today we would like to inform you about the different Assignments for this contest and also provide additional information on the Submission Deadlines.

New "Schedule" Sub-Page In addition to this we also updated the contest web site on icmc.crymod.com which got enhanced by the new "Schedule" section under the "Contest" menu. This new sub-page provides you with all necessary information about dates and deadlines for both the Singleplayer and Multiplayer contest.

Crysis wins Best Technology Award

One of the most anticipated events of the 2008 Game Developers Conference which was recently held in San Francisco was no doubt the Game Developers Choice Awards Ceremony, which presented awards for the results of the previous years efforts of their members. This year the Award for Best Technology, for which “Halo 3”, “Call of Duty 4”, “Portal“ and “Assassin’s Creed “were also nominated, was given to Crytek for its latest blockbuster title “Crysis”, recognizing the overall technical excellence of the CryENGINE® 2 technology powering the game.

Greetings Community!

We welcome you to the “Crysis Weekly Update #5”, which is an official status report from Crytek to the world-wide community in order to get you up to date on the progress of various Crysis related topics.

This time the update is a bit smaller since we got the first version of our Mod SDK released and patch 1.2 is still being verified by the QA (Quality Assurance) departments. Still, we have some progress news regarding the SDK itself and also about the Linux Dedicated Server for you. In addition we want introduce you to some new features, bug fixes and tweaks that are included in the upcoming patch 1.2.

Singleplayer Alpha Screenshot Submission Kicks Off!

Today it is time to kick off the second submission for the Intel / Crysis Mapping Contest. Everyone who is working on a Singleplayer map for this contest should read the following important information about the Singleplayer Alpha Screenshot Submission which is kicking off today.

What To Submit
In order to minimize the amount of wrong submissions please read the following text carefully. It will include a detailed description what exactly is needed, what can be left out for now and what is not required until the final level submission starts.

I am working on a level for the contest, what do I need to submit now?
1. First of all, this submission is only for Singleplayer levels. (You are still able to submit your Multiplayer Alpha Screenshots until 4th of March though. Read more about it here)
2. Submitted needs to be screenshots of your level, no Alpha/Beta .cry files are needed at all. These can be taken either ingame or in the Editor.
3. This submission is about the Alpha status of your singleplayer level. So please avoid submitting final screenshots.
4. At least two alpha screenshots of your singleplayer level need to be submitted (max. amount: 5 pictures, max size per file: 1600*1200px, 2MB)

CRYSIS-HQ Multiplayer Mapping Contest

So, hiermit schließen wir die Mapannahme. Vielen Dank für eure Teilnahme am Crysis-HQ.com Mapping Contest. Hiermit beginnen wir die Testphase am heutigen Samstag (23.02.2008).

Folgende Maps haben wir bis 00:00 Uhr bekommen:

- Burning_Canyon von TheMegaMaster
- Delay von unknown64
- Hawaii von ExeQtor
- SnowyVillage von MATSCHKEK
- Mono von BigGreuda
- Stranded von BigGreuda
- RR2 von Pleezefragme
- Showdown von letteraner

So werden wir vorgehen:
1. Woche = Bewertungs/Testphase der Maps durch die Moderatoren von Crysis-HQ. Gegen Ende der Woche geben wir dann die Gewinner bekannt.
2-3. Woche = Ausgiebige Tests mit der Community (free 4 all) um die restlichen Fehler zu finden und zubeseitigen.
4. Woche = Nachdem die Maps fehlerbereinigt wurden (anhand der Bug-Reports der vorherigen 2 Wochen) wollen wir die Maps nochmals testen, bevor sie in ein finales Map-Pack geschnürrt werden.

Folgende Kategorien werden bewertet:
- Level-Aufbau (Terrain/Landschaftsgestaltung)
- Balancing (faire Aufteilung der Waffen, Munition, Fahrzeuge & Co.)
- Vegetation (Abwechslung)
- Objekt-Platzierung
- Texturen (Vielfalt, passend)
- Besonderheiten (z.B. neue Texturen und/oder Objekte)
